Racing Queensland has launched an investigation into why the Ipswich race meeting was abandoned 30 minutes before the first race.
Friday is the third time this season an Ipswich meeting has been abandoned late because problems were detected with the track despite little or no rain.
Jockeys, stewards and track staff inspected sections of the track and found it unsafe.
The problems were in a section near the home turn and after the finishing post.
Stewards officially called off the meeting at 12.40pm.
An RQ spokesman said an immediate inquiry has been launched into the reasons.
“We have our staff at Ipswich working with track staff and stewards to determine the reasons,” he said.
The abandonment will cost the industry at least $1 million in turnover.
