after the race had a cheeky chat to his Kiwi counterpart – trainer of Muramasa – about how his horse made the winner work for this win the whole way up the straight.

“Yeah, he made him work.

“I was a little bit nervous because it didn't really pan out as we would have liked.

“I think he had to do a little bit work, Harry (Coffey) and he had to get on his bike a furlong earlier than he would have really wanted,” Forsman explained that there was a few nervy moments for him during the 2000m event.

“He levelled up and got the job done,” said Forsman who was very happy with the ride of Harry Coffey and how his colt got the job done.

Harry Coffey recorded his first win on  Cup Day with the win on Mr Maestro with a few more good rides to come.

“When it's a good movie it always works out doesn't it?

“Nah, he's a pretty good horse,” said Coffey who was happy with the ride and was very complimentary of Mr Maestro.

“He's trending the right way and he's lovely to ride. We did get ourselves into a tricky spot but when you're on the best horse you can afford to cover ground and make moves and that's what he did.

“It wasn't pretty but he got the job done and he's gonna improve plenty off that.”

Mr Maestro is now the $3.50 favourite with online bookmakers in the VRC Derby on October 29.
