In Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, Wolfy continued to make strides in his racing career as he triumphed over a competitive field of three-year-olds in a 1420m race at Flemington.
Trainer Nick Ryan was pleased with the performance of this son of Tivaci, who had previously secured a maiden victory at Sale.
“We knew he was going to be back in the last three or four and come on strongly,” said Ryan.
“He’s certainly got a lot of ability, and this is his first preparation, so there is a lot of improvement to come.”
Regarding Wolfy’s future plans, Ryan mentioned that he would take some time to assess his options.
One possibility is aiming for the prestigious Group 1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m, but there’s also the consideration of giving the colt more time and exploring options in the autumn.
“He still wants to wander around a bit and is learning, so it is exciting.
“The autumn would really be his time, so maybe the Australian Guineas (Group 1, 1600m) in March could be his race.”
