Dual Group 2 winner Haut Brion Her has been retired on the eve of the Spring , Australian trainer Chris Waller has announced.

The six-year-old mare finished in the first two past the post in 10 of her 13 career starts, including two victories at Group level.

The daughter of Zoustar won the Group 2 in October 2019, before resuming in the following September with a Group 2 victory in the at .

Haut Brion Her also ran fifth in the 2020 edition of The and then finished runner-up to Gytrash in the Stakes.

“A decision has been made to retire Haut Brion Her with the breeding season fast approaching as it was a race against time to get her ready for another tilt at The Everest,” Waller said in a media release on afternoon.

“She has been a very good horse to the stable winning six races from her 13 starts including the Group 2 Balzer Stakes and Group 2 Sheraco Stakes, as well as being narrowly beaten in the $1m Winners (), and running a credible fifth in The Everest 2020.

“She amassed almost $1.5m in prizemoney for her ownership group consisting of Mr Gary Johnson, Mr Steve Gardiner and Three Bridges Stud, who have been fantastic to deal with throughout her career.

“She was a horse with a lot of talent and sadly we never got to see the best of her.

“Haut Brion Her has been a to train, she has a wonderful nature and being by Zoustar will make a lovely broodmare.”

The talented mare's final race start was in The Galaxy at Rosehill on March 27, where she finished fifth in the 1100m behind Eduardo when sent out as a $3.40 favourite.

Haut Brion Her won AUD $1,468,300 in prizemoney.
