Vincere Volare To Chase Golden Slipper

Brisbane filly Volare is expected to have enough prize money to make the field with trainer Tony Gollan confident she can be in the finish of Australia’s premier two-year-old event.

suffered her first defeat in three starts when third behind Godolphin pair Tenley and in the at on Saturday.

It took Vincere Volare’s prize money to just under $143,000 and the cusp of a Slipper start.

But Gollan is confident the filly will get into the Slipper field on Saturday week.

“I know we have next Saturday to go for those trying to make it at the last gasp,” Gollan said.

“But those that know say we will make it and I hope they are right because with a good barrier she can be right in the Slipper finish.”

Gollan said Tenley had apparently run the fastest 1200m ever by a two-year-old at Randwick and Vincere Volare had played her part.

“We had to roll forward from a wide barrier and she still gave a good kick at the 200 metres,” he said.

Tim Clark rode Vincere Volare and Gollan was pleased with the ride.

“Vincere Volare is an Aquis syndicate horse and their number one rider is ,” Gollan said.

“But we should have a clearer idea of a Slipper rider in the next few days.”

Gollan had a big day on Saturday with four winners at three different tracks.

He had an double with Capital Connection and , Lucadeal won at the and Straturbo won the Dalby Lightning.

“It all comes down to placing horses where they can win,” he said.
