The Toby and Trent Edmonds stable will monitor the condition of Vanna Girl before deciding on the mare’s remaining spring carnival targets.

The remainder of the four-year-old’s Sydney program won’t be locked in until she is assessed in the coming days by the Toby and stable.

“She felt the track a bit and pulled up a little bit jarred up for a few days afterwards,” co-trainer Trent Edmonds said.

“We’ve treated her with a couple of quiet days, some swimming and some anti-inflammatories as well.”

Depending on how quickly she recovers, Vanna Girl may start in Saturday’s Group Three (2000m) at .

Another option being considered for the mare is the (2000m) on October 31, the same day as the $7.5 million (1500m).

Edmonds said Vanna Girl gave away an impossible start when finishing down the track behind in the Epsom after racing in second last position most of the way.

“She got back in what was basically an uncompetitive position and it was mathematically impossible to win from there,” he said.

“Sectionally she was still quite good. They went along at a nice tempo but unfortunately for grand final day, it was largely a non-event.

“She gave away way too much start and that was that.”
