will unveil a potential contender when two-year-old makes her debut at Ballarat.

First run in 2012, the (1000m) is the only right-handed race run in Victoria and is a feature of Saturday's 10-race card.

Soul Obsession, a $175,000 yearling, is among entries for the $2 million Magic at the Gold Coast in January.

Freedman's son, and assistant trainer, Sam Freedman said Soul Obsession was doing everything right ahead of her debut on Saturday, including winning a jump-out at Ballarat on November 14.

But Freedman issued a word of regarding that hit-out saying the small field Soul Obsession lined up against offered little guide to her potential.

“She did most things right but was having a bit of a look around so we worked her in winkers on morning and she worked well in them,” Freedman said.

“She will wear them on Saturday in the hope it will make her more focused.

“She's still learning her caper. She's drawn a nice gate and judging on her jump-outs she'll put herself right there and hopefully she'll run it out strongly.”

Soul Obsession is one of six two-year-olds the Freedman stable has entered for the Gold Coast meeting on January 11 and Freedman said the filly was the most forward of the group.

He said Soul Obsession was not locked into running at the Gold Coast, but success on Saturday would put the race on the agenda.

“We never really target the race but if she did everything right on Saturday, and won, then it's something we would seriously look at,” Freedman said.

“If she happens to win, it takes a bit of pressure off as she could have a short break then get up there.

“Hopefully it's a problem we have after Saturday and hopefully she puts her trial form into her races.”

Soul Obsession will be Freedman's second two-year-old runner this season after showed her credentials with a debut win in the at last Saturday.
