Scarlet Dream Pressing On To Qld Features

runner-up is pressing on for a Brisbane campaign with the Group One Oaks and possibly the Derby on the agenda.

The -trained filly finished just under two lengths behind in the Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick at her most recent start on April 13 and she will have a barrier trial at on Friday in preparation for her Brisbane targets.

Newnham said the Group Two (2000m) at Doomben on May 18 would be Scarlet Dream’s first Brisbane race with to retain the ride.

“All going well she will run in the Oaks then and then possibly the Derby,” Newnham said.

The (2200m) is on June 1 at Doomben, a week before the Queensland Derby (2400m) at .

Newnham said Scarlet Dream had come through her Oaks run at Randwick well.

“It was only her fourth run in,” he said.

“She’s very fit but she will have that trial on Friday to keep her ticking over and then she will head up there a couple of days before The Roses.”
