Pride Of Jenni back in training after retirement scare

Ciaron Maher has confirmed that Pride Of Jenni is back in training after a health scare, although there is no timeline for her racing return as yet.

Ciaron Maher has confirmed that star Of Jenni is back in training, but no firm plans have been set for the mare’s return to racing.

The winner, who also boasts victories in the and , has returned in “good order” after completing a mandatory three-month break following a bleeding incident at last spring.

Initially retired after the setback in the , thrived on a spell at owner-breeder Tony Ottobre’s Cape Schanck farm before rejoining Maher’s stable.

“Tony has got a nice farm and they looked after her really well,” Maher said.

“She had her time off, she’s done a bit of training, and we’re just going to go slow. We won’t drill down on her.”

Maher said the $10 million earner has settled back into stable life seamlessly.

Whilst there is no confirmed date for her much-anticipated return to racing, top online bookmakers have her listed for pre-nominations in the Stakes in April.

Pride Of Jenni is listed at +1400 with Bovada to win the prestigious 2000m Group 1 at .

“It’s good to see her happy, healthy and well,” he said.

“Her demeanour seems very similar to what it always is.

“You want to make sure every box is ticked before going back to the races, but she does seem her old self, very straightforward.”
