Ciaron Maher has unveiled the future plans for the dominant Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) champion, Pride Of Jenni, revealing intentions to target October’s Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m).
Initially considering the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes (1600m) as a potential post-victory venture, Maher confirmed the Cox Plate aspirations via RSN972 on Monday, stating, “The Cox Plate will be our target. The King Charles has been mentioned but the Cox Plate is the one.”
Pride Of Jenni has already witnessed a tightening in Cox Plate futures markets, shortening from +400 to +350. The mare is poised to confront Queen Elizabeth Stakes runner-up Via Sistina, who shares the second spot in betting at +500 alongside 2023 Cox Plate victor Romantic Warrior.
In the event of her participation in the King Charles III Stakes, Pride Of Jenni would be embarking on the Cox Plate challenge on a seven-day turnaround.
