With numbers down due to suspensions, Victorian-based is set to join the ranks on a short-term licence.

Moloney heads to Singapore on Monday to commence riding trackwork ahead of his first meeting at on August 2 with his licence to expire on August 31.

The 25 year-old's career has been going through a rebuilding phase after severing ties with the stable.

A natural lightweight rider, Moloney said heading to Singapore was too good an opportunity to pass up.

“Winter time racing here, there's not a great deal happening,” he said.

“Lots of trainers are using apprentices and I thought it was a really good opportunity to broaden my connections in the racing industry and it's a good opportunity to see what Singapore is really like.

“There's good prize money, competitive racing and I can ride really light and that's another factor that helped me get this opportunity across the line.”

Moloney said he had spoken with fellow Victorian jockey who has been riding in Singapore since the start of the year.

Thompson has incurred three recent suspensions and is out until August 23.

“I've spoken to Benny as he's back home here at the moment,” Moloney said.

“He's given me all the ins and outs and I'm going to stay at his place over there.

“He'll be here the first two weeks I'm over and then the last two weeks I'm there he'll be back in Singapore riding trackwork until he can start race riding again.”
