Trainer Robert Heathcote never tires of explaining the bloodlines of No Annamossity who will make his stakes race debut at Doomben.
No Annamossity is closely related to Heathcote’s seven-time Group One winning champion sprinter Buffering but not in the usual manner.
“It is amazing how many times I get asked to explain the relationship between the two,” Heathcote said.
“But I don’t mind because it reminds me of the great days we had with old Buff.”
Both No Annamossity and Buffering are byMossman.
“No Annamossity’s dam is Hussyanna who is a daughter of Buffering’s dam Action Annie,” he said.
“It means they are three-quarter brothers. No Annamossity is no Buffering but he has overcome a few problems to build a handy record.”
No Annamossity adds interest to the Listed Tatt’s Mile (1600m) on Saturday with most of the visiting trainers having left for another winter.
Heathcote said No Annamossity showed with his last-start win at Doomben in restricted class he was ready for the next step.
“I wonder how good he would have been if he hadn’t suffered a career threatening injury as s young horse,” Heathcote said.
“He has two pins in a leg from a fracture he sustained winning a race early in his career but we were able to save him and get him back racing.
“As it is he has won six times and been placed another seven from 18 starts.
“He likes Doomben and he likes the Doomben 1600 metres so why not have a crack at a Stakes race.”
Heathcote also has Ruling Dynasty in the Tatt’s Mile as the gelding tries to win his first stakes race in nearly three years.
Ruling Dynasty won the Listed City Tatt’s Cup at Randwick in October 2015 when trained by James Cummings but lost form before going to Heathcote last month.
“He has won his two starts for us and the Mile looks a nice race for him,” Heathcote said.
Heathcote will have a third runner in the Tatt’s Mile, Lordag, who has been struggling this campaign,
