Trainer Tony Gollan's long-term plan to target a $125,000 race at Doomben has paid off with his filly Vincere Volare now headed to the Sydney autumn.

Vincere Volare ($1.35) had to do it the tough way before beating Xanthius ($8) by 2-3/4 lengths with 4-1/2 lengths to Centrefire ($12).

The win gave Vincere Volare $112,000 in prizemoney from two wins which should help her make the big autumn races like the Golden Slipper and Group One ATC Sires' Produce Stakes.

“We have got her in both of those and just about anything else we can think of. But she has the prize money now and it shows the benefit of this new $125,000 race,” Gollan said.

“It gives you a chance to compete with the Sydney horses for prize money. I had it as a target since November when she won at Doomben.

“She had to do it tough today after she was attacked in the lead. But she is a fit filly and showed the benefit of having a start before Christmas and then two trials in the lead up.”

“I took her to Caloundra for a trial on Tuesday and I like doing that with my young horses as it gets them spot on for Saturday.”

Gollan is confident that Vincere Volare will be strong at 1200m and further.

“I have a big wrap on her and she will go to Sydney fit and in form,” he said.
