Multiple Group One-winning is set to return to race riding soon after recovering from a fractured leg.

Cassidy plans to ride trackwork from Saturday and then take race rides at the on Friday week.

He has not ridden since August 7 when what he thought was a minor injury was aggravated.

“I originally apparently had a stress fracture in my leg from a barrier mishap on July 21 at the Sunshine Coast,” Cassidy said.

“It was a bit sore but I kept riding for nearly three weeks.”

Cassidy said X-rays showed the stress fracture had developed into an 88mm wide crack in his left tibia.

“Luckily it didn't break all the way through or I would have had a badly broken leg instead of a fracture,” he said.

“I had to rest it and I have only just got back to exercise.”
