We have been previewing the highlights of the jumps meetings at Ascot and Haydock on Saturday and analysed the supporting races on each card. The previews have produced four fancied runners so it only seems polite to combine them in a Yankee.

Ascot & Haydock Yankee Return

A £10 unit stake may be beyond the budget of some readers. A £5 win Yankee returns £602.34 and the same bet for £1 returns £120.47. The lowest return from two winners is £85.16 and the lowest return from three winners is £354.51. If two of the selections prevail you can't do much damage.
If the bet produces a winning treble, there is a decent win. If the bet lands the accumulator, you enjoy a significant win for a modest stake. Each selection is the favourite for the targeted race.
Some punters may wish to cover the singles and they can do this be placing a Lucky 15 bets. This is a Yankee with singles so the combinations are four singles, six doubles, four trebles and an accumulator.
You should shop around the bookmakers because some operators pay double or even treble the odds for one winner. That means if the bet delivers one winner at bigger than 15/2 it is profitable. The single winner is settled at 15/1 so the return is 16 units for a stake of 15 units.
Another option is to back the four horses in singles. If that is the case, you should be selective with the bookmaker and choose one that offers Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG). Four £10 win singles at the current odds produces a return of £96.70 for a profit of £56.70. The profit from four single winners shows the value of combined odds and multiple bets. However, A Yankee must produce at least one winning double to generate a return while the four singles are independent and stand alone.
Most of the UK betting sites feature the BOG promise. This means if you take an early price or board price and the Starting Price (SP) is different participating bookmakers will settle bets at the best odds. This guarantee applies to win single bets and the win element of each way single bets. That means the four horses should be backed in win bets, whether that is a Yankee, Lucky 15 or four separate singles. A clean sweep produces a decent profit.
