Queensland's leading trainer has dominated the summer carnival in recent years but this season has exceeded his expectations.

Gollan's owners had a million dollar pay day on Saturday when he won the with and the with Outback Barbie.

Each horse picked up $580,000 to go with the $90,000 earned for his third in the .

The final day of the Queensland summer carnival is at the Sunshine Coast on January 25 and Gollan will go into it with a full head of steam.

Since the summer carnival started on November 9 he has won 14 metropolitan races and with minor place prize money thrown in his horses have earned $2.2 million dollars.

In all his season metropolitan earnings are just under $4 million from 55-1/2 winners.

In total he has 75-1/2 winners for $4.3 million.

Gollan said he liked to target the summer carnival each year and earmarked several races for his horses early on.

“For instance we won the new races and which we were able to target early on,” he said.

Gollan said a lot of the credit should go to his staff who helped the operation run smoothly.

“We also have a lot of loyal owners. On Saturday it was the first time Alan and Jennifer Acton got to see their mare Outback Barbie win a race live (QTIS Plate),” he said.

“They have been terrific supporters and I love winning races for them.”

Gollan is now looking at the Queensland winter where he hopes to have several top chances including Vega One in the Group One .

“He had already qualified through his The Gateway win so we don't have to rush him,” Gollan said.
