Gold Symphony Joins Trainer Lauren Herne

trainer Lauren Herne has acquired stakes performer to target the northern carnivals.

Herne believes the extra prize money in country racing makes the northern carnivals an attractive proposition.

Gold Symphony, who was raced by a syndication and trained in Sydney by Peter and Paul Snowden, has won more than $500,000 and recorded victories in the Listed at and the Canberra .

Herne recently bought him with the idea of racing in Brisbane and then heading north later this year for races such as the .

She had a good winter in the north last year winning a Townsville feature staying race with Outstrip while smart sprinter Kievann ran second in Queensland country’s elite sprint, the Bay Handicap (1200m).

“Gold Symphony ran in some top races including the Stradbroke Handicap when the Snowdens had him and he then went to for a campaign,” Herne said.

“But he isn’t up to those types of races anymore. I think he is an ideal horse for the country races.

“As a six-year-old he still has plenty of racing left in him. Brisbane trainers dropped off the north for a while but I think with the better prize money you will see more heading up that way for carnivals.”

Herne plans to syndicate Gold Symphony and then set a campaign plan.
