Edmonds Set To Rejuvenate Lady Horseowner

trainer Toby Edmonds’s reputation for success with former southern-trained horses will get another test when Lady Horseowner resumes at Doomben.

Edmonds took his season of winners to 105 with a double at Doomben and ‘s win in the Grafton Ramornie on Wednesday.

Many of those winners have been with horses Edmonds has rejuvenated after they did their early racing in the south.

Lady Horsepower had outstanding early two-year-old form but it has dropped away.

The filly will run against a capacity field in the Three-Year-Old Handicap (1200m) on Saturday.

Lady Horseowner was trained by Greg Eurell in when she won her first two starts including a Prelude beating future Group One winner .

She finished midfield in the 2018 Group One but has run last at her past two runs with the latest in April.

Lady Horsepower was sent north looking for easier company and Edmonds has given her two trials to get her ready for her debut.

She was handy in both trials against smart open company gallopers.

“Her trials have been solid and her trackwork good but she needs to bring that on race day,” Edmonds said.

Meanwhile, it could be a case of Sydney or stud for stakes-winning mare Granny Red Shoes who will be ‘s last ride in a race in the Three-Year-Old Handicap.

Granny Red Shoes has not run since finishing seventh in the Guineas in January.

“She’s had two trials and the latest was good,”Edmonds said.

“She has raced well in Sydney and that is an option after Saturday but her owners might want her to go to stud.”
