The nominations for the Group One races held by the Brisbane Racing Carnival this winter will close this week.
The BRC will host seven Group One races this winter starting with the Doomben 10,000 on May 11.
It will be followed by the Doomben Cup (May 18), Kingsford Smith (May 25), Queensland Oaks (June 1), Stradbroke Handicap (June 8), Queensland Derby (June 8) and J J Atkins Classic (June 8).
The eighth Group One of the carnival is the Tattersall’s Tiara which is hosted by the Tattersall’s Club on June 22 at Eagle Farm.
Nominations for all but the Tiara close on Tuesday with the fillies and mares race closing in June.
BRC racing manager Matt Rudolph said weights for the Eagle Farm races on June 8 would be declared on May 27 while the Doomben 10,000, Doomben Cup and Kingsford Smith are weight-for-age races.
“We expect a lot of southern trainers to nominate and they should note the deadline on Tuesday,” he said.
The Tony Gollan-trained unbeaten Zoustyle is the early favourite for the Stradbroke ahead of the entries.
