Ben Melham Suspended In Singapore

A hit-and-run trip to has resulted in for Ben Melham, ruling the jockey out of the meeting at .

Melham rode at the Singapore Derby meeting at on Sunday and incurred a three-meeting ban on a careless riding charge.

Lured to Singapore to ride the unplaced in the Derby, Melham’s trip was not all in vain as he won aboard Gold for ex-pat Australian trainer .

Melham was suspended in one of the support races on the Derby undercard with his ban to begin after he rides at Sandown on Wednesday.

He will return for the meeting on August 3.

Former champion trainer Lee Freedman claimed the quinella in Sunday’s Derby, winning with Sun Marshal, ridden by ex Perth jockey Joe Azzopardi.

Sun Marshal, who raced in Australia as Han Xin for the stable, defeated Mr Clint.

Freedman had five runners in the Derby with Heliosphere (sixth), Circuit Mission (eighth) and Super Dynasty (13th).
