Well-Bred 2yo Paris Wins Cranbourne Maiden

Well-bred filly has broken her maiden at and added to the stable’s list of two-year-old winners for the season.

A daughter of stallion out of the mare Court, Paris is a half-sister to now-retired Group One winner English and the filly broke through at her fourth start in a 1000m maiden against her own age and sex on a heavy track on Wednesday.

Paris had her first two starts for Sydney trainer and was a luckless third at Moe in her first start for the Freedman stable last month before winning Wednesday’s race by one-length win under start .

“He just let her find her feet and it was good to see her with some clear running in the straight and she showed a really nice turn of foot,” assistant trainer told broadcaster Racing.com.

The Freedman stable’s two-year-olds, headlined by Group One Stakes winner Lyre, have now won a combined 18 races during the 2018/19 season, which concludes at the end of this month, with Paris the 12th individual winner from the age group.

“It’s been a really good year and hopefully there’s one or two more to come,” Sam Freedman said.
