Sam Freedman expresses his optimism regarding the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival and the potential of their stable star, Without A Fight.
Following his impressive victory in last year’s Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m), Without A Fight has been sidelined due to a minor tendon strain, causing him to miss the autumn races. However, Freedman shared positive updates on the gelding’s recovery.
“He’s going great,” says Freedman, who co-trains alongside his father Anthony. “I had a chat with Lee Evison this morning and he’s been very pleased with him.”
Freedman continues, “The tendon is scanning really well, it’s all been going the right way, he’s been upping his workload and he’s been coping with it very well.
“All being well, if it all continues to go the right way, we’d be optimistic that he could be back under saddle in about six weeks’ time, which seems soon enough given the injury wasn’t all that long ago.”
