WONDER mare Winx will enter Saturday’s Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes at Royal Randwick as the $1.10 favourite to extend her win streak to 11 straight victories.
There are only two other runners in the field who are in single figures.
Prized Icon ($7.00) and Hartnell ($9.00) are the only two horses under a double figure quote, while Suavito is next best in the market at $15.
The remainder of the field is at $34 or more.
Trainer Chris Waller said Winx is in the form of her career.
“I know exactly where she is at now, that is the best form she has been in,” Waller said.
“I just have to maintain her to next Saturday and hopefully we’ll see another improvement.”
Sportsbet repsentative Ben Bulmer believes Winx is the horse to beat going into Saturday’s Group 2 race.
“Winx was devastatingly good when she resumed and there is no reason why she won’t repeat the dose here. There’s some smart horses in the race, but over 600m she should reign supreme,’’

William Hill opens market on when Winx’s next loss will be
ONLINE bookmaker William Hill has capitalised on the hysteria around superstar mare Winx, opening up a premium price market on when the Chris Waller-trained four-year-old will lose its next race.
An undefeated run throughout the 2016 spring campaign is the shortest option at the $3 quote, while the next best option is a loss in this Saturday’s Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick at the $3.50 mark – a race where Winx will enter as the $1.10 favourite.
The longest quote in the market is a $5.50 loss in the Cox Plate, the race Winx won last year in emphatic fashion.
Winx is $2.50 to defend her Cox Plate crown.
Trainer Darren Weir – who will train the horse most pundits consider the great danger to Winx’s Cox Plate defence in Black Heart Bart – is apprehensive about his star going up against the wonder mare, even in the form his runner is displaying.
“Who wants to take on Winx? Someone’s got to,” Weir said after Black Heart Bart saluted in last Saturday’s Memsie Stakes.
Despite all the hype around Winx’s return to the Valley in the spring, trainer Chris Waller said it is difficult to say if his mare has returned in better shape this campaign.
“It would be hard to say better.” Waller said.
“I guess we won’t really know until the group ones, in particular the Cox Plate, and it would be hard to say that she could break the track record again as she did last year in the Cox Plate,”
