Wild Ruler Stakes Everest Claims With Win

Three-year-old Wild Ruler has done his Everest credentials no harm with a dominant win against his own age in the Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick.

The door has been left ajar for Wild Ruler to take the final spot in after he outclassed his Roman Consul Stakes opponents at Randwick.

Wild Ruler put his hand up as a likely contender and Henry Field, representing part-owners Newgate Bloodstock, says they are open to discussions about an start.

“He will either go to the Coolmore or The Everest,” Field said.

“He is an exciting horse.”

Trainers Peter and won the first two editions of the Everest with seasoned sprinter before became the first three-year-old to claim the race last year.

Paul Snowden will leave any decisions up to Wild Ruler’s owners but says they have the horse ready to take his place.

“He’s had a really good preparation,” Snowden said.

“We’ve never done it before, obviously, but he is pretty tough and I don’t think that was too hard for him today.

“It’s a different year. Who knows?”

Wild Ruler ($1.60 fav) trailed leader in Saturday’s 1200m race and quickly took control in the straight, cruising to the post to by two lengths.
