A show cause hearing into why Darren Weir and Jarrod McLean should be allowed to continue training is ongoing at Racing Victoria headquarters.
The two have been asked to justify to RV stewards why they should not be stood down pending an inquiry into serious charges to be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on a date to be determined.
Weir and McLean face charges of possessing electrical devices known as jiggers along with failing to answer stewards questions at the opening of an inquiry on Thursday and conduct prejudicial to racing.
The jiggers were found when stewards and officers from Victoria Police’s sports integrity unit raided Weir’s stables at Ballarat and Warrnambool on Wednesday.
The show cause hearing resumed early on Monday afternoon after Friday’s session resulted in an interim order for the pair’s runners to be scratched from the weekend’s racing.
