Trainer admits he faces a couple of difficult decisions after a day of mixed luck at the rich meeting.

Tregea won the $150,000 Mackay Cup with tough gelding while sprinter was narrowly beaten in the $75,000 Mackay Newmarket.

The trainer has established a base in for a provincial Cups campaign.

“We came back from Mackay to Rockhampton on Saturday night so we really haven't had much time to plot our next moves with the horses,” Tregea said.

“I want to have a good look at what is available and what weights they are likely to get.”

“One option is to go back north for the big races in Townsville and Cairns. The other is to come back south and have a crack at the (Listed) Tattersall's Mile.

“These horses are getting up in the ratings so we have to chase what we can while we can.”

Tregea also had who was unplaced in the Mackay Cup after going hard in the lead.

“He is in the same boat as the other pair,” he said.

Tregea said he would probably make up his mind on Monday.

Bergerac has now won three feature races since December and taken his prize money to $650,000.

“He has won the , and now Mackay Cup so we might even look at Sydney where he has won before,” Tregea said.

Apprentice has ridden Bergerac in all three of his big wins and has a great affinity with the horse.
