James Cummings expressed confidence in Godolphin‘s Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) contender, Traffic Warden, stating that the colt is set to deliver his best performance in Saturday’s race at Caulfield.
Cummings highlighted the strategic decision to bring Traffic Warden to Melbourne last year for a two-year-old handicap, emphasising the value of his prior Caulfield experience.
“We deliberately brought him down to Melbourne last year to tackle a two-year-old handicap back in trip to 1000 metres second-up and that was after chasing home the very impressive Storm Boy at Rosehill,” Cummings revealed to Racing.com.
Having finished second on debut to Storm Boy at Rosehill and securing a win in his subsequent start at Caulfield, Traffic Warden continued to demonstrate his prowess, finishing third in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on February 3, behind Prost and Fearless.
“I watched him gallop (Saturday) morning in Sydney, and he’s still getting it right,” Cummings commented.
“That’s why I feel like we haven’t seen the best of him yet. He’s on the improve, and that’s a positive quality going into the race.”
Traffic Warden is marked as a +2000 winning hope with top horse racing betting sites in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
