Trainer Kerry Parker has confirmed that his multiple Group 1 winner Think It Over will miss the entire 2022 spring racing season after suffering a tendon injury.

Think It Over was the hero of The Championships when taking out a star-studded Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) under a daring ride by Nash Rawiller, defeating the likes of Zaaki, Verry Elleegant, Anamoe and Duais.

Think It Over rose to fame last spring, winning the Hill Stakes, Craven Plate and Rosehill Cup on his way to a A$1 million bonus, so connections of the horse were looking forward to seeing what the upcoming season had in store for them.

While the extent of the tendon injury in his offside foreleg is yet to be known, Parker and owner Richard Johnston have made the decision to spell the seven-year-old known as ‘Sid'.

“Think It Over has brought me, my family, Kerry and a legion of fans so much joy during his career,” Johnston said.

“But at the end of the day, we need to put the horse's needs first. We will do all that it takes to ensure Sid is looked after.”

The son of So You Think has been a bit of a latecomer to racing, with his seven-year-old season by far his best, taking his prizemoney record to well over $7 million.

Parker said a return to the track isn't off the cards, but he admitted that it would be “heartbreaking” if an injury like this were to end Think It Over's fruitful career.

“I am sure his fans, particularly the groundswell of support from his hometown in Wollongong will be as disappointed as we are, and it would be heartbreaking to think that this could end his career, but if ever there was a horse that can beat the odds and make a successful racing comeback, it is our Sid,” Parker said.
