The new breeding season is taking shape with , the first son of top sire to stand in the state, joining the roster.

Sun City, a Group Three winner, will stand for $7,700 this coming season beside another young stallion in who has already got a winner in .

Multiple Group One-winning sire will also stand at Telemon, near Beaudesert south of Brisbane.

By Zoustar out of Roulettes, Sun City was bought by his trainer Tony McEvoy and David Redvers for $525,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

A Flying Spur mare, Roulettes is a half-sister to stakes winner Royal Discretion and her sister Tactfully has already produced Listed winner Vezalay.

Sun City was second in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial (1000m) and Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1110m), before winning the Group Three McLachlan Stakes (1200m).

A leg infection put paid to his Magic Millions and Golden Slipper hopes.

Telemon Thoroughbreds boss Darren Fletcher said Sun City was ideal for the Queensland breeding industry.

“He on the scene as an early two-year-old and looked like he had the world at his feet.

“Unfortunately, he suffered a non-congenital injury when he jumped the crossing following his win in the BJ McLachlan,” Fletcher said.

“We're confident we have found the right balance for our sites. The fees we have set are a reflection of the quality of our stallions while recognising the current difficult economic conditions.”
