Bold Bastille will take advantage of the updated conditions in Saturday’s Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at The Valley as she begins her spring campaign.
Previously restricted to four-year-olds and older, the Listed race is now open to three-year-olds for the first time.
Bold Bastille will benefit from carrying just 50.5 kilograms in the 1000-metre sprint, a factor that co-trainer Ben Hayes hopes will serve as a dress rehearsal for the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at the same venue on September 27.
“She gets a nice, light weight. She’s a winner at the track. We can see how she goes against the older horses and then decide whether she runs in the Group 1,” Hayes, who trains alongside his brothers Will and JD, told Racing.com.
Bold Bastille recently won an 800-metre jump-out at Flemington on August 9, and Hayes expressed his satisfaction with her performance.
