Shooting For Gold on track for Brisbane Winter Carnival

Shooting For Gold will begin his Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign this Saturday in the Listed Ascot Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm.

The Steven O’Dea & -trained four-year-old has built an impressive record in his 13 start career, winning seven races and placing on a further three occasions.

With three wins from four starts at Eagle Farm, the stable will be hoping that the son of Shooting To Win can resume as a winner.

Co-trained Matthew Hoysted told HorseBetting that the gelding has improved during his spell, while he has also sorted out his barrier manners, which he believes will take the horse a long way this winter.

Shooting For Gold raced only twice during the Summer , finishing third to in November at the Sunshine Coast, before failing as an even-money favourite in the Listed Bribie Handicap on December 11 at this track and distance.

The chestnut gelding will be ridden by on Saturday, replacing and Baylee Nothdurft, who have both had strong affiliations with the classy galloper.

Drawn barrier five and on the minimum weight, Shooting For Gold will have a good chance of turning the tables on Zoustyle who is the +180 favourite with Bovada.

Shooting For Gold (+380) is the second favourite in his racetrack return, while his stablemate is a +1200 chance.
