Victorian race day officials are threatening to take industrial action that could lead to races being delayed or possibly cancelled, although the Melbourne Cup will not be affected.
Australian Workers Union Victorian secretary Ben Davis said the officials had yet to decide whether to take industrial action amid stalled enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations, but any stoppages could potentially impact the running of races.
A Racing Victoria spokesman said the earliest AWU members could take protected action was Friday, meaning Tuesday‘s Melbourne Cup and Thursday’s Oaks Day will not be affected.
