A perfect barrier draw means promising Our Mantra will skip a restricted class race to tackle stronger company at Eagle Farm.

Trainer Robert Heathcote had entered Our Mantra for the Osim Open Handicap (1840m) and the Class Six (1600m) on Saturday.

Heathcote had been leaning towards a start in the Class Six until he saw the barrier draw.

“He had 59 kilograms and barrier 10 in the Class Six and barrier three and 54 in the open,” Heathcote said.

“He is second-up and 1600 metres is probably more suitable but he has a few things in his favour.”

Robbie Fradd, who is building a lethal combination with Heathcote this season, has been booked for the ride.

Our Mantra, who originally was trained by Joe Pride in Sydney, has won four races since joining Heathcote last year and is regarded among the most promising stayers in Queensland.

Ryan Maloney will ride Heathcote's other runner in the Open Handicap, Cool Chap, who is pre-post favourite.
