Post Impressionist, the dominant winner of the Group 3 N.E. Manion Cup (2400m), remains a contender for Saturday’s Group 1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) following his trainer William Haggas‘s nomination for the race on Monday.
The progeny of Teofilo emerges as a frontrunner in the betting for the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) after an awe-inspiring come-from-behind victory in the Group 3 event at Rosehill last Saturday.
Nick Williams, son of owner Lloyd Williams, expressed contemplation about a potential back-to-back run, stating, “It’s got me wondering whether he should be running next Saturday, to be honest with you.
“I’m sure he (Haggas) and dad (Lloyd) will be discussing that over the coming days.
“We’ll see how the horse pulls up. He’s done that pretty easily today, it was a pretty soft win, so let’s wait and see.”
In addition to being a commanding favourite for the Sydney Cup on April 20, Post Impressionist now also holds the second position at +1400 in the betting for the Group 3 Melbourne Cup (3200m).
