Overpass prevails in the Inglis Sprint

The Bjorn Baker-trained was too good for them in the $750,000 Inglis Sprint (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The Farm-trained runner started an odds-on favourite with jockey aboard.

Parr took the galloper forward while coming up the middle of the Flemington straight, before the son of Vancouver proved too strong for them scoring by three-quarters-of-a-length to another -trained galloper in Spellcatcher.

The talented colt didn’t completely have his mind on the job while travelling up the straight though.

“He had a good look around,” Parr mentioned after the race when interviewed by Racing.com.

“He did that going down to the start, and I was aware that he was going to be .

“It was a matter of just keeping his rhythm nice and neat. We got him into a really good stride.

“He has a turn-of-foot, as we’ve seen in Sydney. He showed that here today.

“He’s a horse well and on the rise.”

The Handicap could on the cards for the three-year-old if he can back up again next week.

“He’d only carry, I think it’s about 50.5kg,” Parr said.

“He’s won down here now, with that sort of weight on his back I’d certainly encourage the stable to head that way.

“I can’t ride him of course, only half of me would make that weight.

“But I’m really thrilled to get a winner here today and happy to make my family proud at home.”

Overpass is a now a $15 chance with Sportsbet to win the on March 12.
