Moldova Heads Redoute’S Choice Stakes Noms

The Danny O’Brien-trained headlines nominations for the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes for two-year-olds at , having impressed in wins at Bendigo and to start her career.

Moldova won an 1100m-handicap for fillies at Flemington on Saturday to remain unbeaten and has been entered to run on a seven-day back-up in Saturday’s Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1200m) which has attracted 23 nominations.

Redoute’s Choice, who died in March, is the grandsire of Moldova who is by Snitzel out of the mare La Fluorescent.

The Jason Warren-trained filly , second to Moldova on Saturday, has also been nominated while the stable has entered six juveniles.

Four of Lindsay Park’s nominations – Alqaab, Magnetism, Nicconi Storm and – are unraced colts while the raced brigade are dual stakes placed colt Memphis Rock and filly Mishe Mokwa who was placed in The Showdown last start.

Lindsay Park senior trainer indicated Mishe Mokwa and Memphis Rock were both likely acceptors while he said he could also run a couple of the unraced two-year-olds.

Mishe Mokwa won a Mornington maiden for two-year-olds on debut last month then finished third in the inaugural Showdown (1200m) at Caulfield which was won impressively by Prince Of Sussex.

“She drew a terrible gate and we went back and she finished off strongly,” Hayes said.

Memphis Rock is yet to win from six starts but the colt gets another opportunity to a black-type victory on Saturday, having been placed twice at stakes level.

That includes his last-start second to unbeaten Kooweerup in the Group Three Breeders Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide, the second start of his current campaign.

“He ran really well in Adelaide and got beaten by a smart one I think,” Hayes said.

Warrnambool debut winner Ginny Ann has been nominated by trainer Symon Wilde while New Zealand trainer has entered an unraced colt named Banquo, a brother to Oakleigh Plate winner .
