Melbourne Cup day is shaping up as a wet one, with moderate to heavy rain expected to fall across Melbourne overnight until 10 or 11am, according to the weather bureau.
“It’s not completely dry for the race, but still not as bad as what we’re expecting during the morning,” Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Michael Efron says.
