Magic Time is set to embark on a quest to augment her Group 1 accolades as she gears up for Saturday’s All Aged Stakes at Randwick.
Trained by Grahame Begg, the four-year-old prodigy clinched victory in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) in her previous campaign.
This season, she commenced with commendable efforts, securing sixth and seventh positions in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) respectively.
Reflecting on her performance in the TJ Smith, Begg remarked, “I thought she ran very well. The jockey (Michael Dee) thought she was going to be the winner turning for home.”
Begg continued, dissecting the race, “I guess she just drew probably not the gate that was desirable on the day, barrier one. She got beaten 1.1 lengths and ran seventh, so she has run very well.”
Anticipating her progression, Begg noted, “Obviously she’ll improve with another run under her belt. That was only her second run back this time round.
“She had a good month between runs between the Newmarket and the TJ and now two weeks into the All Aged. We’re very happy with her and she’s stepping up to 1400 metres.”
