Kerrin McEvoy's autumn campaign has come to an abrupt halt following a harrowing incident on Golden Slipper day at Rosehill.
The esteemed jockey suffered a fractured vertebrae after a fall from Tintookie during the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m). Tragically, the mare succumbed to a severe injury on the bend.
Despite the ordeal, McEvoy remained conscious as he exited the track, but subsequent medical examinations revealed a fracture in his C6 vertebrae.
Scheduled for another MRI scan on Monday, McEvoy faces a mandatory four-week hiatus before his condition undergoes further assessment.
