Jamie Mott Fined $1500 For Twitter Comment

has been fined on a misconduct charge following a social media post that suggested he would flout racing’s whip rules.

stewards on Thursday held an into a comment made by Mott on his Twitter account following the Sandown meeting on Wednesday.

In issuing a $1500 fine, stewards found Mott’s comments were inflammatory and had the potential for serious consequences.

Riding runner-up at Sandown on Wednesday, Mott protested against the winner for alleged interference over the final 100m.

During the hearing it was established Regan Bayliss, rider of Caffrey, had used the whip on nine occasions before the 100m mark.

While the was dismissed, Bayliss was hit with a seven-meeting careless riding and a further $900 in whip-related fines.

Fellow jockey was also suspended on Wednesday for seven meetings for overuse of the whip.

The bans come after was suspended for six meetings and fined $1500 for the same offence on dead-heater Plein Ciel at The Valley last Saturday.
