Hunter looking to cause Group 1 upset with Rich Fortune

Trainer Jerome Hunter has given the green light for his 84-rated mare, Rich Fortune, to take on some of Australia’s top sprinters in the upcoming (1000m) this Saturday.

Despite Rich Fortune not securing a victory since her triumph in the Group 3 (1100m) a year ago, the prospect of a small field has Hunter to test her mettle against formidable competitors like , , and .

In an interview with Racing.com, Hunter justified the decision, stating, “You can’t win the without a ticket.” He emphasized the mare’s fitness and pointed out the potential advantage in a field that may not consist entirely of 1000-meter specialists, suggesting that some competitors might be looking for a bit more distance.

Hunter added, “If there is lots of speed on, it would definitely suit my horse.”
