Sydney trainer John Sargent, known for his expertise in training staying types, introduced a strong contender for the with Harlow Mist's impressive victory in the Preview (1800m) at .

Jockey Mick Dee delivered a flawless ride as Harlow Mist positioned just behind the leading pack before accelerating strongly in the straight, ultimately triumphing over Konasana and Everlasting Kiss.

The three-year-old filly has been steadily progressing through the ranks, securing three consecutive wins.

Her latest triumph at Flemington followed victories at Goulburn and .

Sargent expressed his satisfaction with her performance, stating, “It was a big jump up; she has just been winning in the country, but she has got a decent-sized heart in her and she showed that today.”

Considering her promising potential, Sargent now sets his sights on the Group 2 (2000m) and the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) during Melbourne Cup week.

“She is obviously going to get the trip (of the Oaks), so she will go out for a break now and then have a run before she comes down to Melbourne and then probably run in the Wakeful and Oaks.”

Harlow Mist's pedigree is noteworthy, hailing from a strong staying family and sired by Contributer.

Sargent believes in her potential, comparing her to past Oaks winners.

“She probably has as much class as a So Dazzling who won this race last year.

“She hasn't got as much brilliance as a Kirramosa or a Luvaluva but she is a very determined type that once she gets out over further will be even harder to beat.”

Harlow Mist, a product of Wentwood Grange, was purchased for $85,000 by Tricolours Racing & Syndications. Remarkably, she is one of three undefeated three-year-olds from the 2022 draft of the renowned Cambridge nursery.

Her granddam, the champion mare Grand Archway, achieved Group 1 success in both the VRC Oaks (2500m) and the (2400m).

Sean Hawkins of Wentwood Grange expressed amazement at the success of their Karaka draft, saying, “She is one of three three-year-olds to come out of our Karaka draft in 2022 heading for Group races in , and now Harlow Mist. It's quite amazing.

“All three of them have had three starts and all three are undefeated.”
