Premier Brisbane trainer will again have a strong hand in stakes races at but will also have a career-first 80 kilometres north.

Gollan is set to have his first runner in Saturday's final at Kilcoy, a race designed to find the fastest horse in over 800 metres.

Godfather's Girl won a heat of the Cannoball series at last week to give Gollan his first runner in the final.

“At this stage she will run and be hard to beat,” Gollan said.

“You have to place horses where they can win and this race looks ideal for her.

“I will obviously be at Doomben for the but it should be a big day at Kilcoy.”

President Con Searle said the club could not have a better advertisement for the new-look racecourse than hosting the Cannonball series final.

Kilcoy has undergone a million dollar face-lift on and off the track thanks to funding from the local Somerset Council and the state government.

The facilities, including refurbished dining, bar, bookmakers and viewing areas, will be officially opened at Saturday's meeting.

There has also been an extensive upgrade of the track in recent months.

“For a country TAB club we now have first class facilities and racetrack,” Searle said.
