has secured a coveted ballot exemption for the prestigious (2400m) following a commanding victory in the Listed (2400m).

Trainer is now setting his sights on the next challenge: the Listed Stakes (2800m), where the Hungarian import aims to clinch another ballot-free entry into the Group 1 (3200m).

In a conversation with Racing.com, Smith expressed his optimism.

“It's the first time in ages I've been able to get the right sequence of runs into him,” Smith said.

“He was going well and there's always a chance they can put it together. I wasn't going down there to have a stab in the dark.”

Reflecting on Esti Feny's performance, Smith attributed his success to strategic gear changes.

“Due to the gear changes, he was able to settle well and then finish it off.”

With the Cup firmly on the agenda, Smith emphasised their aspirations for the prize.

“We'll be heading for the Caulfield Cup for sure and we'd love to get him into .”
