Central apprentice Elyce Smith has joined an elite band of jockeys by riding six winners at the Emerald meeting in Queensland.

Smith, who is apprenticed to her father Fred in , won on ($1.55), ($4.40), Addicted ($1.60), ($4.60), Fastnet Flyer ($4.60) and ($2.50) on Saturday.

Her other two rides finished second and last.

The 22-year-old is studying to be a school teacher and is likely to retire from riding next year.

She has ridden 56 winners this season to be ninth on the senior Queensland jockeys premiership.

Noel Thompson at Cunnamulla and Bill Thomas at Townsville have also ridden seven winners at Queensland meetings.
