Dzsenifer Put Dents In Rivals’ Atkins Bids

Promising filly Dzsenifer effectively ended the hopes of her rivals when she won at the Gold Coast.

Racing introduced Friday metropolitan level meetings at the Gold Coast during the but the club will revert to provincial level next month.

And several trainers used prize money in the two-year-old race on Friday for a last chance bid to make the Group One JJ Atkins field on June 6.

Dzsenifer was not nominated for the Atkins and took advantage of a slow early pace to have filly behind the leader.

He was to able to sprint her clear in the straight and Dzsenifer ($4) had too big a break in beating See Marie ($5.50) by 1-1/4 lengths with a short head to ($4).

Trainer said Dzsenifer had been showing plenty of promise and would be a smart three-year-old.

Dzsenifer is one of the few horses by former Group One-placed sire Scissor Kick to race in Queensland and now looks a bargain as $32,000 yearling at the 2019 Magic Millions Sales.

See Marie, Corvo, fourth-placed Uncomplicated and fifth-placed Neutron needed to win to make the Atkins field.

They will now need a big drop off of higher-placed horses on the ballot to make the field when final acceptances are taken on .
