Darren Weir disqualified for two more years

Trainer has been issued an additional two-year disqualification by the for using a on three racehorses in 2018.

The tribunal, chaired by Judge John Bowman and including Judge Kathryn Kings and tribunal member Des Gleeson, unanimously agreed on the penalty, considering it “fair and appropriate.”

This ruling follows a recent hearing where Racing stewards recommended a further 10-year ban in addition to Weir’s previous four-year disqualification, which ended in February last year.

Weir, who admitted to charges of animal cruelty, highlighted his rehabilitation, remorse, and contrition in his defense.

Charges related to corruption had been previously dismissed.
