An accountant and his four adorable kids have taken out the Fashions on the Field family competition at Flemington on Stakes Day.
Julian Christian and children Millicent, 13, Jemima, 11, Imogen, 9, and Felix, 7, won over Saturday’s panel of judges with their co-ordinated navy blue and lilac ensembles.
The family, from Melbourne’s Moonee Ponds, were encouraged to compete in the competition by their aunt Anna.
“First she said for us to wear emerald green, then she said navy and lilac,” Jemima told reporters.
“My favourite colour used to be yellow but now it’s navy blue,” sister Imogen added.
Mr Christian said the prizes – including vouchers worth more than $10,000 – were well worth the “ridicule” he was going to cop at work on Monday.
“We never expected this would happen, we said to the kids lets have fun, it’s good for their confidence to participate,” he said.
“We’re just over the moon.”
The only family member absent was mum.
“It was probably a little bit strategic on Michelle’s part to make me do it with the kids,” Mr Christian admitted.
