The decision has been made to retire brilliant mare following her unplaced run in the Prix de l'Arc de in France.

Representing owner Prince Khalid bin Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, Douglas Erskine Crum confirmed the 11-time Group One winner would head to the breeding barn for a date with their stallion .

“After consulting her trainer and his racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe, Prince Khalid has decided that Enable will be retired from racing and will now join the Juddmonte broodmare band to be covered by Kingman in 2021,” Erskine Crum said.

Enable was chasing a record third victory in the Arc, having won it twice and finished runner-up last year.

All up she won 15 of her 19 starts and amassed a record amount of prize money for a European thoroughbred.

Grimthorpe described Enable as a special horse whose record was virtually unrivalled.

“She has brought so much joy to everyone who has been involved with her,” Grimthorpe said.

“Her elegance and forceful personality have been nurtured by John and his team at Clarehaven, especially by (her groom) Imran who has looked after her with such calm and devotion.

“Her CV withstands the closest of inspections, very few can match what she has given to racing.”
