Following a harrowing incident at Caulfield on Wednesday, Victorian jockey Ben Melham has fortunately avoided a fractured leg but has been dealt a blow with a torn thigh muscle.
Initially, concerns loomed over a potential leg fracture, but subsequent scans have allayed those fears.
Despite this somewhat positive update, Melham will be sidelined for The Quokka (1200m) event in Perth this Saturday.
Further scans are on the horizon to gauge the extent of his thigh injury, which occurred during a fall from Heed The Omens, a talented contender from the Chris Waller stable, who had recently secured victory at Sandown.
